The Twitterverse is in a uproar today over not one, but two recent police-involved shootings of black men. Philando Castile’s death is still breaking news. Alton Sterling’s death has received wide report and is now under federal investigation. My question is: why is this still happening?
Why, after all the media visibility and national uproar over black men (and women) being harassed or killed by cops (usually white), does it seem like nothing’s really changing? I used to believe such incidents were rare and not part of systematic injustice against the black community. I can no longer in good conscience believe that. Something in our society is terribly broken.
